Dear Parents,
Happy Heart Health Day! It was great to see so many of the children wearing red for this special day. If you would like to know more about the American Heart Association's mission to fight heart disease, go here. The American Heart Association also has valuable resources for families to discuss healthy lifestyles with their children.
THE WEEK IN REVIEW:
UNIT STUDIES: This week we had two wonderful interviews. One with the author of Seeds of Change, Ms. Jen Cullerton Johnson, and another with the assistant to the executive director, Mr. Salvador Uy. Both interviews helped the children to see that we can use our different interests, skills, and talents to address local and global issues. The interviews also peeked student interest in learning more about the issues that are in our local community.
MATH: We are continuing with our work of learning how to multiply money through the "Big Dinner" unit. Some ideas to support the learning at home include: allow your child to help plan purchases, pay for items in the store, budget their allowance (if they receive one) or even plan a dinner and price it out.
DATES TO REMEMBER:
Have a wonderful weekend with your lovely learners!
Ms. Erin Threlfall
