Only one week left of J3- it's so hard to believe! We are definitely closing out the year with a bang. This week was filled with Ms. Jenkins leading a flash mob in the cafeteria to the song "Happy," a sighting of Mr. Ban Ki-moon, hugs for Ms. Tan, and sports day. You can see our enthusiasm in the above video. It seems that I am missing some other goodness in there…
As a reminder, June 12 is a half day with dismissal at 11:45:
Dismissal Plan for the last day of classes -
- As M4 will be having their graduation lunch in the Cafeteria, we will need to dismiss differently.
- J4 will have their regular dismissal with clap out along the ELL-Theatre corridor and down the stairs - parents will meet J4 students in the lobby.
- JA will dismiss from classrooms as normal
- J1-J3 will dismiss from classrooms
Following is some important information from InUnison:
Report Cards Instructions on how to view, print and save report cards are in the “Resources and Forms” section of the parent portal and can be accessed directly here. Report cards for Junior School Manhattan and the entire Queens Campus will be available at approximately 4:00 pm today, June 6. Manhattan Middle School and the Tutorial House will be available next Friday, June 13 at the same time.
Digital Math Summer Packet As the summer break is fast approaching, the Math Community at UNIS Junior School for both campuses has prepared a Digital Math Summer Packet which serves as a resource for continued practice of math concepts and skills. The selection of activities is wide and international in content. We hope this will be both fun and engaging for the children. Our goal is that math learning continues to be a family activity where each child sees math in real life situations. Playing games and having healthy math talk in an encouraging way will support a growth mind set instead of a fixed one. For instance, when shopping, cooking, building, etc., parents can verbalize the mathematical thinking they are doing, including getting feedback from children about whether what they are thinking makes sense! Also, a car trip or other free period could be a good time to review math facts by looking at the environment and using nature as tools. The attached digital documents are not only an environmentally - friendly way to share but also offers a convenient solution to families that are going to be traveling and will need portability. The information can be found on the Parent Resources and Forms page of the parent portal – in both the JS Manhattan section and the Queens section.
The UNIS Math Community wishes you a "fun-tabulous" and "num-memorable" summer!
Yours in Learning and Growing-
Ms. Erin M. Threlfall
